We are reaching out to our amazing community to support our fundraising appeal. The play equipment for youngest class, Stepping Stones at Portfield School, has become unsafe and was removed during the October half-term.
Now, we have an incredible opportunity to create a better, brighter outdoor space for the children of today and tomorrow. We urgently need to replace the climbing frame which is the first step of a longer project to update the whole play space.
Why does this matter?
Play is essential for every child. It keeps them active, helps them build friendships, and sparks joy. For autistic children, it also plays a vital role in:
As Anna Hewitt, Headteacher at Portfield School, explains:
"Some of our children have sensory challenges or use alternative communication methods. A well-designed outdoor play area supports a whole approach to learning and provides a much-needed outlet for their energy and creativity. The last climbing frame was loved by our students but had become unfit for use. Now, we’re determined to replace it with something even better."
Our Goal
We need £25,582 to purchase the climbing frame so our littlest students have access to play whilst at school. With your help, we can create a space that will benefit not only the current class but also future generations of Stepping Stones students.
