At Portfield School, we are dedicated to providing specialist autism education for students aged 4 to 19. Each student has an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a diagnosis of autism.
Our mission is to empower every student to achieve their full potential by offering a broad, balanced, relevant, and flexible curriculum. We teach in a way that motivates, engages, and inspires a love of learning, extending education beyond the classroom. By collaborating with parents, carers, and professionals, we secure the best support for each student.
Early Years and Infants (4-7 years): Our nurturing, child-led approach encourages learning through continuous provision, promoting communication and interaction.
Primary (7-11 years): Students engage in topic-based learning inspired by the national curriculum, with access to a range of enrichment opportunities and therapeutic support.
Secondary (11-16 years): The curriculum focuses on enterprise, real-life learning, developing healthy relationships, and achieving various accreditations, including Functional Skills, The Kings Trust, ASDAN, and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Sixth Form (16-19 years): Students participate in work experience opportunities and activities that prepare them for adulthood, while continuing to pursue further accreditations. They receive expert career advice and support from our skilled Sixth Form team.
Our comprehensive therapy team, encompassing health, psychodynamic, and behavior approaches, supports students' development and well-being.
We also offer enrichment programs to foster creativity, including music and art sessions tailored to individual interests and talents.
At Portfield School, we prepare students for life beyond the classroom, equipping them with the skills, understanding, and confidence needed to thrive in adulthood. Our students are well-prepared for college, work placements, apprenticeships, and independent or supported living.
