Safeguarding
Portfield School is uncompromising in its commitment to Safeguarding and ensuring the welfare of our students. All our staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. At Portfield School, we recognise the importance of creating and maintaining a safeguarding culture that will support all students to feel safe, secure and respected, where students are encouraged to talk openly and feel confident that they will be heard and listened to. We are committed to providing an environment where students can develop and achieve; where they are safeguarded and are enabled to disclose if they are being harmed in some way. We are alert to the signs of all forms of abuse and neglect and follow our procedures to ensure that all students receive effective support, protection and justice. Operation Encompass
Our school is part of Operation Encompass.
This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse. Operation Encompass means that the police will share information about Domestic Abuse incidents with our school soon after they have been called to a domestic incident. All Key Adults (DSL/DDSL) have attended an Operation Encompass local briefing as well as national online training.
The Operation Encompass information is stored in line with all other confidential safeguarding and child protection information. Portfield School is part of the Pan Dorset Safeguarding Hub.
